Ropes get ribbon

Ribbon cutting ceremony for new Ropes Training Area at San Marcos Academy.

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (SMACC) Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 13 at the San Marcos Baptist Academy (SMBA) for the school’s new Ropes Training Area. The challenging course features 21 high and low elements.

Funds for the course were provided by a grant from the Texas Pioneer Foundation. Wood for the ropes elements was donated by McCoy’s Building Supply.

SMBA administration and staff members attending the ceremony included President Dr. John Garrison, Interim Executive Vice President Monty Lewis, Vice President for Development Bobby Dupree, Director of Alumni Relations Madeline De Long and Communications Director Shelley Henry.

Academy JROTC students and Boy Scouts gave a demonstration of the Ropes Training Area for the attendees.
