STAFF REPORT
The Wittliff Collections on the seventh floor of the Alkek Library at Texas State is planning a grand reopening in anticipation of its completed reconstruction. The event will take place on Oct. 17.
The reconstruction doubles the exhibition space. The re-designed formal entrance will house large art pieces. The expanded Cormac McCarthy Reading Room accommodates a greater number of researchers who will now be able to gain access to the newly opened Cormac McCarthy Archive.
The signature longleaf pine and southwestern design accents used in the current spaces are being carried throughout the new areas.
The grand re-opening celebrates the new collections with a reception and program accenting the fall literary and photographic exhibitions. Keith Carter will sign his two most recent monographs from the University of Texas Press. Carter’s A Certain Alchemy is the Witliff’s latest Southwestern and Mexican photography book, and Fireflies is a collection of his photographs of children.
The Wittliff Collection presents major exhibitions year around from its archival repositories.
