Mark Anthony Calderon.
A Buda man was sentenced to 45 years in prison Friday and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine for the commission of an aggravated robbery on Feb. 25, 2008.
A Hays County jury convicted Mark Anthony Calderon, 32, for robbing a convenience store in the 5000 block of Overpass Drive in Buda.
Prosecutors said Calderon entered the store, held the clerk at bay with a knife and removed approximately $400 from the cash register.
A store surveillance video captured Calderon and he was subsequently indentified following an investigation by Detective Angelo Florian of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). Calderon, who has previous convictions for evading arrest and retaliation, must serve one-half of the 45-year sentence before being eligible for parole.
“We thank the jury for its verdict and hope that this sentence will deter others who might consider this type of conduct in Hays County,” said District Attorney Sherri Tibbe.Email | Print
