Texas State Professor Linda E. Homeyer was a speaker at the commencement of the Selangor Association of Play and Expressive Therapy (SAPET) in June. The event was held in Malaysia.
The professional organization was inspired by the techniques of Play and Expressive Therapy, which incorporates the use of art, music, writing, visualization, symbol work, clay, sandplay, bio-energetics, role play, self-awareness exercises, personal narratives, relaxation and meditation to help children deal with emotional and psychological problems.
Homeyer, who teaches in the professional counseling program, is a patron of SAPET, and has provided training for mental health professionals in Malaysia for the past five years.
