Bowie Ibarra, the former Lehman High School theater teacher charged with improper relationship between educator and student, turned himself in to Hays County authorities Friday.

Ibarra was magistrated and his bond was set at $5,000. He remains in custody at the Hays County jail.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) issued an arrest warrant for Ibarra on Thursday, after Hays County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith signed the warrant.

On May 26, the Lehman High School administration contacted its school resource officer, who is a Hays County Sheriff’s deputy, about a possible improper relationship between a member of its staff and a student. The HCSO criminal investigations division detectives began an investigation. Ibarra, 34, resigned that day.

  1. this man was my former teacher and it saddens me that he would do this to a student… mr ibarra seemed to have a good heart and always taught me to follow the rules… maybe he shouldve listened to his own advice.
