STAFF REPORT

A truck towing a mobile home snagged electric lines about 2:50 p.m. Friday in San Marcos, knocking out power to about 1,500 residents.

San Marcos Electric Utility restored power in about 30 minutes.

The incident happened at Post Road and Aquarena Springs Drive, where the truck pulling the mobile home contacted the overhead wires. The contact caused a short, which tripped breakers at the San Marcos substation on River Road, said Tom Taggart, Director of Public Services.

Electric utility workers responded immediately and restored power by 3:25 p.m. The area affected included Hopkins Street to Aquarena Springs west of Interstate-35 to the area around City Hall.

City electrical crews worked to restore power.

The recipe for a power outage.
