A nonprofit association of economic development professionals called Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI) recently honored the City of San Marcos and Economic Development San Marcos (EDSM) for its Grow One San Marcos plan.
Grow One San Marcos is an economic retention and expansion plan. The city worked with HEB, Inc. to retain 534 jobs and create more than 230 additional jobs within the next 20 years.
The city took top honors from BREI as the international single community with a population between 20,000 and 50,000.Success was attributed to the Grow One San Marcos Incentive, created by EDSM. It annually assesses business community needs through visitation, surveys and providing effective tools.
