Patterson elected president of Student Foundation

STAFF REPORT

William Clay Patterson was recently elected president of Texas State’s Student Foundation.

Established in 1978, Student Foundation works with Texas State’s administration and student body to promote a positive image for the university. Its members also serve as presidential ambassadors at various events.

“To honest with you, when I applied for Student Foundation, I wasn’t quite sure what it was about or how it was worked,” Patterson said. “A member had approached me and told me that this organization was something I should be a part of. He said because of the leadership I had shown in various other organizations and the support and love I showed for our university, Student Foundation was where I needed to be.”

Patterson is also a past president of Texas State’s Veteran’s Alliance. He feels positive about his upcoming term.

“The organization is strong,” Patterson said. “We have 60 of the brightest, most talented young leaders on this campus. Leaders who have come from every back ground you can think of. We have student leaders from Hip Hop Congress, the Resident Hall Association, Paws Preview, the Greek community and the Associated Student Government to name a few. With a group as intelligent and diverse as this, I couldn’t ask to be working with a better group of students.”

Patterson maintains that Student Foundation’s main mission is to continue serving Texas State President Denise Trauth in promoting the university as a premier institution.

“I hope to increase the interaction between students, alumni and the administration of our university,” Patterson said. “We are all Bobcats, and by working together we can shine together.”
