Plans are already underway for the 29th Annual San Marcos Summerfest, which will be held at San Marcos Plaza Park on July 4.
The celebration will begin the annual children’s parade and costume contest at 5 p.m. Live music and will follow, with Zydeco Blanco opening at 6:15 p.m., followed by David Ybarra and the LA Blues Band at 7:45 p.m. and Trio Faze closing out the program at 10 p.m. Organizers say that the fireworks display will be bigger than ever.
Uncle Sam will lead the children’s parade, so parents are encouraged to dress their kids in patriotic costumes. Children are also invited to to submit entries for a patriotic essay contest. The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department will operate a special activity area to keep kids entertained as well.
Lisa Morris, of the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, and San Marcos Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Rebecca Ybarra-Ramirez will return as co-chairs of the event. Sponsors include the City of San Marcos, the San Marcos Noon Lion’s Club and H-E-B.
