KFD to conduct controlled burn

STAFF REPORT

The Kyle Fire Department (KFD) will conduct a controlled burn on Saturday morning, June 20, as part of a training exercise. KFD will burn the field near Rebel Drive between Wallace Middle School and the Hometown Kyle subdivision.

Residents living in the Hometown Kyle subdivision are advised to be aware that both KFD and the Kyle Police Department (KPD) are aware of the burn and will be on the scene. Residents are advised to only call 911 if they believe the fire is getting too close to their homes.

Residents are also advised to stay indoors to avoid breathing irritation, avoid the roads in this area to allow access for emergency vehicles and make sure all pets and children are accounted for during the burn.

The morning of June 21 will be used as a backup day if Saturday’s weather does not permit the burn. The training exercise is also intended to act as a pre-burn for the annual Independence Day fireworks show.
