County under tornado watch

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch for parts of Hays County.

The thunderstorm warning is in effect until 9:15 p.m. Thursday for north central Hays County, among other Central Texas locations. The tornado watch is on until 10 p.m. Thursday for Hays, Bastrop, Blanco, Lee and Caldwell Counties, including the cities of San Marcos and Lockhart.

At 8:39 p.m., NWS meteorologists still detected a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing golf ball sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. The storms were located along a line extending seven miles northeast of Round Rock to Anderson Mill to 14 miles east of Round Mountain, moving southeast at 10 miles per hour.
