STAFF REPORT
Students at Travis Elementary School recently raised $472.03 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the Pennies for Patients program.
In a two-week period, students sold paper pennies for $1 a piece, which were then displayed on the Pennies Wall of Fame.
“We worked as a community to raise money for kids with cancer,” said Travis counselor Rima Kaikhah. “Every classroom had a collection box in their room, as students and adults brought in their spare change to deposit in the boxes. This was an amazing service learning project that benefited our kids as much as the patients for whom the money was raised.”
