Kindergarten graduate Sierra Richardson receives her diploma.
Travis Elementary School held a graduation ceremony for half of its kindergarten students on May 28, with the other half walking the stage on May 29.
Wearing red caps and gowns, the students accepted their diplomas from Travis Principal Niki Konecki, Assistant Principal Brooke Neal and San Marcos CISD Superintendent Dr. Patty Shafer.
A total of 83 students graduated on May 28, and another 67 on May 29. Each kindergarten graduate wore a stole with the logo of the university they hope to attend.
The graduation was underwritten by a higher education grant from the San Marcos Education Foundation. It was Travis’ third kindergarten graduation, capping a week-long focus on higher education. Teachers from all grades wore university t-shirts and costumes all week as they talked about the importance of a college education.
