The City of San Marcos is welcoming municipal, state and industry health officials from across the state for the Texas Environmental Health Association (TEHA) Conference.

TEHA began as the Texas Association of Sanitarians (TAS) in 1956. In 1965, TAS proposed and sponsored the state statute establishing the registration of professional sanitarians. TAS changed to its current name in 1971 after affiliating with the National Environmental Heath Association.

Between 150-200 participants are expected. Topics to be discussed include the following:

  • Food Safety at Youth Camps.
  • Food Borne Illness Investigations.
  • Regulations for Water Bottlers.
  • Local Vegetables and Fruits (presented by the Texas Farmers Market Association).
  • Constructed Wetlands Waste Water Treatment.
  • Water Quality Basin Monitoring Program.
  • Lead Contamination.

The conference is being held at the San Marcos Activity Center, located at 501 East Hopkins Street.
