City seeks volunteers for Human Service board

The City of San Marcos is seeking volunteers to apply for two vacancies on the Human Service Advisory Board. The volunteer board reviews funding requests from local social service agencies and recommends allocations of approximately $426,000.

The board consists of eight citizens of San Marcos appointed by the City Council.  Seven are voting members, and the eighth is a non-voting member, with a degree in social work and experience in social service administration.

All members are asked to be committed to the development and enhancement of human services in San Marcos. Members are appointed to two-year staggered terms, with four places expiring September 30 of odd-numbered years and with four expiring September 30 of even numbered years.

The board meets the second Tuesday of each month and weekly during the application review period of March and April.
