STAFF REPORT
After winning last week at No. 2 Rice and sweeping its way to its first outright Southland Conference regular season championshp against Nicholls State last weekend, the Texas State baseball team has returned to the national rankings.
The Bobcats, 37-12, are ranked No. 25 by the trade newspaper Collegiate Baseball. The Bobcats entered the Collegiate Baseball poll at No. 26 two weeks ago, then took a 12-2 beating at No. 6 Texas and a 15-6 drubbing from Texas-San Antonio to fall out of the rankings before rallying with last week’s performance.
The Bobcats also received votes in the Rivals.com and ESPN/USA Today polls.
Texas State now has won six straight games, returning to their ways with three games of double-digit scoring in those six wins.
The Bobcats will play at No. 19 Texas A&M Tuesday night (6:35 p.m.). A&M leads the all-time series, 35-11. Texas State last beat A&M in College Station in 2006.
Texas State will complete the regular season this weekend at Texas-Arlington before entering the Southland Conference Tournament in Corpus Christi as the top seed the following weekend.
