University police identify man who died in accident

SUBMITTED REPORT

Texas State University police have identified the victim of an early-morning fatal traffic accident as Kevin Ray Cresap of 105 Mandalay Drive in San Marcos. He was a 39-year-old senior at Texas State.

Cresap was killed early Saturday morning when his 2007 Hyundai left the road on Laurel Ridge on the Aquarena Center property, overturned and became submerged in Sink Creek. A University Police Department officer on routine patrol noticed what appeared to be headlights shining below the surface of the water and stopped to investigate.

He summoned EMS, fire and rescue and a wrecker to the scene. Cresap’s body was found inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Hays County Justice of the Peace Margie Hernandez.

Preliminary investigation results indicate Cresap had turned onto Laurel Ridge from Aquarena Springs Drive when he lost control of his car and left the roadway.

An autopsy is pending.
