The city of San Marcos will break ground on the reconstruction of the Rio Vista tennis courts on Monday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Rio Vista Park.
Mayor Susan Narvaiz and the city council will officiate at the start of reconstruction of the 35 year old courts, originally built through a grant from H.E.B. Tennis Foundation in 1974.
The city council recently awarded a construction contract for $568,126 to Thomas-N-Thomas, Inc. of San Marcos to rebuild the only public tennis courts owned by the City of San Marcos.
The project will demolish the existing courts at Rio Vista Park and construct six tennis courts, concrete walks, irrigation, sport court lighting, shade canopies, drinking fountain., benches, a bicycle rack, and perimeter fences.
The public is invited to attend to see the project get underway. Construction is expected to be completed within 120 days.
