The 2009 Economic Outlook Luncheon: Riding the Storm Out, is expecting more than 300 people on April 23, but those who can’t make it will also be able to keep up on their computers.
San Marcos Media Professions (SMMP) will broadcast the event on the internet, live, in high definition.
“The effort to provide a live feed is twofold,” said Economic Development San Marcos Executive Director Amy Madison. “With the present economy, it might be tough to find $35 to attend the luncheon. This way, virtually anyone can attend. The added bonus is we are able to showcase our local companies and promote our own, and that’s as good as it gets.”
Said SMMP coordinator and local photographer Andy Heatwole, “Austin may be the Music City, but San Marcos is the Media City. Our main goal is to transform San Marcos into a powerful media production center that will provide local businesses and individuals with top-notch service and recruit new business from all over Central Texas.
SMMP members assisting with the event include Heatwole Photographic Service, Media Design, XI Media and Aberdeen Studios. Kulabyte, a three-year-old local company, is providing the equipment and video encoding services.
Reserve seating is still available for the event, and a limited number of seats are available for purchase at the door. The event is being held at the San Marcos Convention Center. Speaking at the event will be Dr. Keith Phillips of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, along with economic professors from Texas State.
