After a strand of game delays and rescheduling due to weather, the Texas State’s softball team finally hit the field in Natchidoches, LA, Sunday afternoon and swept a double header from Northwestern State by scores of 8-0 and 3-0.
Thus, the Bobcats solidified their lead in the Southland Conference, where they are 18-5 and 31-14 overall. Northwestern State (NSU) fell to 3-22 and 5-37.
Texas State notched at least one hit in each inning of the first game for an easy win. Taylor Hall went two-for-two and walked for the 34th time this season, making her the school’s all-time single-season walk leader. Ashley Koop set the old record of 33 in 2002.
Chandler Hall pitched five innings for her 19th win of the year, striking out seven.
In the second game, Katie Garnett won for the 12th time this season, striking out five in a 3-0 Texas State victory.
Chandler Hall doubled in two runs in the first inning.
The Bobcats return home next weekend with a Saturday double header against Stephen F. Austin at Bobcat Field (1 p.m.) The final game on Sunday will begin at noon.Email | Print
