Spenser Dennis drove in five runs and Jason Martinson knocked in another four Tuesday night as Texas State demolished Houston Baptist, 18-4, at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats actually got started later than usual, scoring only two runs in the first inning and holding only a 3-2 lead before they scored three in the fourth, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and eight in the seventh.
Dennis homered for the first time this year, while Martinson hit his third home run of the season.
Garret Carruth picked up the win, improving his record to 2-1, with 2 1/3 shutout innings in relief of Matt Steiner. Tim Heath, Jeff McVaney and Michael Pitts eached worked an inning for Texas State to finish the game.
The Bobcats upped their record this year to 20-10 with a huge series coming this Thursday through Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana at Bobcat Field. The Bobcats and Southeastern are tied for first place in the Southland Conference at 10-5.Email | Print
