The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) will hold its annual “Year in Review” briefing on April 30, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
The session is to inform the public about SMPD’s accomplishments, goals, crime statistics and police activity. The public will hear from SMPD Chief Howard Williams, as well as other members of SMPD’s command staff.
“We believe that the police department should be accountable, publicly, tot he community we serve,” Williams said. “We will brief citizens on our progress, and give them an opportunity to ask us questions about the police services we deliver.”
The informal briefing will also cover areas such as, patrol activity, traffic enforcement, sex offenders, recruitment and hiring, crime prevention, the citizen’s police academy, school resource officers, victims services, bike and foot patrols, loud part enforcement and narcotics.
Williams will also discuss the annual racial profiling report and use of force statistics.
