SMHS drama troupe advances to regionals

 

Students from the SMHS drama troupe perform “The Insanity of Mary Girard”

The San Marcos High School’s (SMHS) Drama Troupe brought back 20 medals from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) One Act Play competition on March 27, and has advanced to district level competition.

According to Director Jack Moore, two students earned “Honorable Mention-All Star Cast” status, while another two earned “All Star Cast” honors. Four students won “All Star Tech Crew” as well.

Eleven students received medals for advancing to district competition, after competing against students from Hays, Del Valle and Elgin schools. Mandy Stoddard won “Best Actress.”

The troupe performed “The Insanity of Mary Girard,” a play about the struggle between right and wrong.

  • Mandy Stoddard – Best Actress
  • Samantha Reynolds – All Star Cast
  • Jacob Seth Salazar – Advancing
  • Benjamin Painton – Honorable Mention All-Star Cast
  • J’Erica Gaytan – Advancing
  • Cullen Smith – All Star Tech Crew
  • Effie Husbands – All Star Tech Crew
  • Cimonnett Guilbeau – All Star Tech Crew
  • Anastasiya Belysheva – All Star Tech Crew
  • Kyla Crumley – Alternate
  • Erika Almeida – Alternate

The next round of competition began on April 3.
