Chinese acrobats coming to Texas State

The Golden Dragon Acrobats.

Cirque D’Or, with the Golden Dragon Acrobats, will hold two performances at Texas State on April 18.

The Golden Dragons, from their home in Hebei, China, hav traveled to more than 65 countries, and all 50 U.S. states. Trained since youth in acrobatics, the group has garnered a great deal of acclaim, including winning the National Association of Campus Activities Entertainer of the Year award and the Campus Activities Today’s Performer of the Year Award.

Chinese acrobatics plays an important role in the cultural exchange between China and the rest of the western world. It has evolved into many forms of popular entertainment, including dance, opera, sports and the martial arts.

The performance is part of the 2008-2009 University Arts Encore Series. Shows will be at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., in Evans Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students, and $15 for the general public.
