Miller, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, is a product of the folk revival in Scotland, which took place in the 1960s. He moved to Austin in 1968, where he enrolled at the University of Texas. Miller eventually obtained Master of Arts degrees in Geography and Folklore. In addition to his singing career, Miller is the host of a folk music program on Austin’s NPR station, KUT-FM.
