Using money it’s receiving as part of the recently passed federal stimulus package, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas (WSCT) is launching a program to employ young people who meet low income guidelines to work during the summer.
People from the ages of 16-24 can work in entry-level positions for local businesses while WSCT assumes all the costs for payroll, based on comparable wages paid for similar work.
Jobs that are not eligible for the funding include any dangerous work, such as working around hazardous chemicals, or areas where there is a high probability of a fatal accident.
The positions are intended to last for eight weeks, introducing youth to the working world while providing them with employment skills.
