SMACC to hold annual Texas economic luncheon


The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (SMACC) will hold its fourth annual Texas Economic Luncheon on April 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the City of San Marcos Conference Center, adjacent to the Embassy Suites Hotel and Spa.

The topic of the luncheon is, “2009 Texas Economic Outlook: Riding the Storm Out.”

Dr. Keith Phillips, Senior Economist and Policy Advisor with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, is the featured speaker. Phillips is a contributing member of the Western Blue Chip Economic Forecasting Group, where he is considered the most accurate forecaster of the Texas economy for eight out of the last thirteen years.

Phillips’s work was also featured on CNN, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, USA Today, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and other media outlets throughout Texas.

Following Phillips’s address, he will be joined by Dr. Paul Gowen, Dr. James LeSage and Dr. David Beckworth, from Texas State’s McCoy College of Business. The panel will discuss the current economic situation and its outlook for Texas. The panel will entertain questions afterward.
