The Texas State softball team won three easy home games during the weekend, crunching Southeastern Louisiana by scores of 10-1, 10-0 and 11-1.
With the wins, Texas State upped its record to 19-9 overall and 11-2 in the Southland Conference, while Southeastern Louisiana dropped to 8-16 and 0-10.
The Bobcats won the series opener on Saturday by a 10-1 count in five innings as Leah Boatright and Ryan Kos each went three-for-three with three runs. Pitcher Chandler Hall gave up five hits in four innings for the win, upping her record to 10-4.
The Bobcats won just as easily in both games of a Sunday double header. Texas State scored seven runs in the fourth inning of the opener for a 10-0 lead and a run rule win in five innings by that score. Boatright drove in four runs while Hall and Kos each homered. Katie Garnett allowed four hits in five shutout innings for the win.
Texas State won the second game, 11-1, in five innings as Hall struck out six hitters in five innings for the win.
The Bobcats go to Nicholls State for a three-game series Tuesday and Wednesday. A Tuesday double header will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a single game Wednesday at noon. Texas State returns home this weekend to play Central Arkansas in a Saturday double header and a Sunday single game.Email | Print
