Texas State students get in league tourney with ID


Texas State students will be admitted free to the 2009 State Farm Southland Conference Tournament at the Merrell Center in Katy by showing valid and current Texas State student identification.

The Texas State men’s basketball team will play the first game of the men’s tournament when the Bobcats play against second-seeded Nicholls at noon Thursday.

The other first round games include No. 3 seed Sam Houston State playing against sixth seeded UTSA at 2:30 p.m., while the SLC regular-season champion Stephen F. Austin (SFA) will play against eighth seeded Southeastern Louisiana at 6:00 p.m., and fourth-seeded Texas-Arlington (UTA) plays No. 5 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 8:30 p.m.

The winner of the Texas State-Nicholls game will play the winner of the Sam Houston State-UTSA game in a semifinal game at 6:05 p.m. on Friday. The other semifinal game will be played at 8:35 p.m. Friday between winner of the SFA-Southeastern Louisiana game against the winner of the UTA vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi contest.
The championship game will be played Sunday at 12:03 p.m.

Tickets for the Southland Conference Tournament are on sale through the Texas State Ticket Office by calling (512) 245-2272.

Tickets are priced as low as $10 for a general admission session ticket and $15 for a reserved session ticket for any of the games played on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A general admission ticket for Championship games is $8 and a reserved championship ticket is $10. A reserved ticket for the entire tournament is available for $75.
