SMHCC promotes small business seminars

The San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SMHCC) is putting out the word about upcoming seminars put on by the Texas State Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

On March 24, Jackie Rollins, a former tax auditor with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), will present “Basic Business Taxes – What Small Businesses Need to Know Before Tax Day” from 2-5 p.m. Ronald Greenberg, an attorney with the Greening Law Firm in Austin, will present “Asset Protection for Small Businesses – A Supplement to Insurance” on March 31 from 3-5 p.m.

Both seminars will take place in Austin at One Highland Center, 314 Highland Mall Boulevard, in the first floor conference room. The seminars require a reservation and cost $35. For more information or to reserve a seat contact F.C. Caranikas with the SBDC at (512) 716-4820, or via email.

The SBDC, along with the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), will hold a special seminar from 8:30-11 a.m. called “How to Navigate Your Business Taxes” on March 27 at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Conference Center. Topics include finding hidden deductions, changes in the 2008 tax code and savings that can be found through employing a spouse or child. NASE national tax advisor Keith Hall will make the presentations. Hall, a certified public accountant (CPA), is the author of the book “Schedule C: from A to Z.”
