Five San Marcos High School students made their mark at the Texas Forensics Association’s state championship competition last weekend in Austin.
- Senior Brooke Morgan, competing in dramatic interpretation, was one of three recipients of the association’s Outstanding Senior Scholarship.
- Junior Henry Finch advanced to the semifinals in extemporaneous speaking, placing him in the top 20 in that event.
- Junior Irene Morse reached the quarterfinals in extemporaneous speaking, placing her in the top 50 in that event.
- Junior Kelley Mathis reached the semifinals in impromptu speaking, placing her in the top 12 in that event.
The competition is a run-up to the University Interscholastic League’s district competition this month, followed by the National Forensics League’s district competition in April.
