Businesses opening in Plum Creek

KYLE – As Plum Creek grows towards its goals of 8,700 residences and a wide variety of mixed uses on 2,200 acres in the coming years, the northern Kyle development already is attracting an array of businesses.

TrustTexas Bank recently selected a site in Plum Creek on the Kyle Parkway (FM 1626) for a new 3,679-square-foot full-service branch scheduled to open later this year.

Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) also is expected to open its first Hays County facility in late spring. The 36,000-square-foot clinic, located in Plum Creek’s Uptown District, is part of a planned mixed-use development of medical, retail and restaurants. The clinic will offer family medicine and pediatric care, same-day appointments, an on-site lab and online appointment requests. Clinic and lab hours will be Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Because of new hospitals, new transportation infrastructure and the growing population, the move to Kyle makes sense,” said Dr. Norman Chenven, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ARC. “When a community has a significant level of growth, ARC responds by putting family-friendly care in that community.”

ARC locates near hospitals that can use its medical facilities to support its operations. In particular, ARC works closely with the Seton Family of Hospitals, which expects to open a 210-bed facility at Interstate-35 and Kyle Parkway around the start of 2010.

A+ Federal Credit Union also has selected a site in Plum Creek’s Uptown District. A 3,800-square-foot facility is expected to open during or after 2010 adjacent to the ARC building, near the Hays CISD offices and the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center.

The 8th Annual Front Porch Days will be held in Fergus Park in Plum Creek from May 2-3. Front Porch Days is a two-day celebration that brings out more than 5,000 Kyle residents, and it kicks off April 25 with a community-wide Plum Creek garage sale. Other events include a garden tour, a golf tournament, a 5K run, a 1K kids run, face painting, games, a petting zoo, a pie baking contest, pony rides and more. Two stages will present family friendly bands throughout the day. For more information visit the event’s website.
