Nicholls State first up for Bobcats in Southland Conference tournament

The Texas State men’s basketball team will play in the first game of the 2009 State Farm Southland Conference Tournament at noon on Thursday, March 12 when the seventh-seeded Bobcats play against second-seeded Nicholls.

The other first round games include number-three seeded Sam Houston State playing against number-six seeded UTSA at 2:30 p.m., while the SLC regular-season champion Stephen F. Austin will play against number-eight seeded Southeastern Louisiana at 6:00 p.m., and fourth-seeded UT Arlington plays against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 8:30 p.m.

The winner of the Texas State-Nicholls game will play the winner of the Sam Houston State-UTSA game in a semifinal game at 6:05 p.m. on Friday, March 13. The other semifinal game will be played at 8:35 p.m. on Friday and features the winner of the Stephen F. Austin-Southeastern Louisiana game against the winner of the UTA and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi contest.

The championship game will be played on Sunday, March 15 at 12:03 p.m.

Tickets for the 2009 State Farm Southland Conference Tournament are on sale through the Texas State Ticket Office by calling (512) 245-2272.

Tickets are priced as low as $10 for a general admission session ticket and $15 for a reserved session ticket for any of the games played on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A general admission ticket for Championship games is $8 and a reserved championship ticket is $10. A reserved ticket for the entire tournament is available for $75.

In addition, students with valid ID’s from Southland Conference universities are admitted free and children five and under are admitted free with an adult.
