At 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, the new Kohl’s Department Store in Kyle occasioned the city’s most recent grand opening and ribbon cutting as the retail outlet was officially welcomed by representatives from the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Kyle and Hays County.

The Kohl’s is the first department store among two million square feet of retail planned for the intersection of Interstate-35 and Kyle Parkway.

Immediately following the ribbon cutting, Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) President Jason Tarr, Mayor Mike Gonzales, City Manager Tom Mattis, and Kohl’s-Kyle Manager Ruby Porter, invited the attending guests to enjoy Starbuck’s Coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls catered by Our Lady of the Lunch during their shopping tour of the new facility.

“The Kyle area is still experiencing tremendous economic development,” said KACC Executive Director Ray Hernandez. “We welcome Manager Ruby Porter and her team at Kohl’s-Kyle to provide additional shopping opportunities for our residents and visitors and encourage the business community and area residents to visit the new store in Kyle.”

Said Mattis, “Even after a late City Council meeting last night, we still have most of our council members and City staff here this morning to welcome this Kohl’s Department Store to Kyle, This turnout for the ribbon cutting is symbolic of the enthusiasum and support that the City of Kyle and our citizens have for Kohls. We are all looking forward to having another quality partner in our community as Kyle continues to develop into a truly full service city.”

City of Kyle Mayor Mike Gonzales told the crowd, “I’ve said during pervious ribbon cutting ceremonies, Kyle citizens are unified by a vision and a commitment for a quality community. Kohl’s is definitely a department store that lives up to that commitment for quality.”

Local store Kohl’s Manager Ruby Porter reminded the shoppers gathered that, “Kohl’s not only offers quality merchandize at outstanding prices, they are also a family-focused company that believes in local community involvement. The Kohl’s Cares for Kids programs has improved the lives of many children with health and education initiatives.”
