The Texas State softball team will play host to the University of Texas Tuesday night (7 p.m.) at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats enter their second meeting with Texas this year holding a 12-8 overall record, including 4-2 in the Southland Conference. Texas is 14-4 overall.
The Bobcats went 4-2 last week, all in the Southland Conference. They swept Texas-Arlington (UTA) on the road and finished 1-2 at home against McNeese State.
Freshman pitcher Chandler Hall has a hot hand for the Bobcats. Her 7-3 record includes three wins in four games last week. Her ERA is 1.75. Hall beat the Longhorns last month in Austin, when the Bobcats prevailed, 9-6.
Texas leads the all-time series 22-13. For the past four years, the Bobcats and Longhorns have split the season series with one win each per year. Texas State will look to sweep the Longhorns for this season.
The Bobcats scored six runs in the top of the seventh to notch last month’s win in Austin. Texas State left fielder Allyce Rother went two-for-two with two runs and an RBI to help the Bobcats to their second straight win on the road to start the season.
Taylor Hall leads Texas State with a .356 batting average. She has started all 20 games, going 21-for-59, with three doubles, five RBI and a slugging percentage of .407.
Loryn Johnson leads the Longhorns with six runs, six doubles, three home runs and 20 RBI on 26 hits, batting .448.
