Theater groups from more than 35 schools are gathered at Texas State for the American College Theater Festival, Region IV, through Saturday.
Students from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas are competing for a chance to go to the national competition at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
“Hosting the festival is a major event,” said John Fleming, Chair of the Department of Theater and Dance. “This event literally puts Texas State and our department on the national map.”
Two of the seven shows scheduled at the festival will be Texas State production, including an original play by graduate student John Boulanger called House of Several Stories.
This is the first year Texas State has conducted the festival. Students and the public are invited to festival productions. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $7 for students with ID.
