Texas State’s Opera Theater will present performances of Sigmund Romberg’s “The Student Prince” on March 6-8 at 7:30 p.m., with an additional performance March 8 at 2 p.m. All performances will be in Evans Auditorium on the Texas State campus.
The opera is centered on the Prince of Karlsberg, who is excited to attend the University of Heidelberg. After falling in love with the innkeeper’s daughter and making new friends, the Prince must decide whether to follow his heart or his royal duty.
Made into a movie in 1927 and 1954, “The Student Prince” is acclaimed for its songs sung in English. The Texas State Chamber Orchestra will accompany the performance, conducted by Maestro Jonathan Babcock.
