The Kyle Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) was presented with a memorial proclamation during its annual banquet on Feb. 7 by Kyle Mayor Mike Gonzalez. The banquet was held at Texas Old Town in Kyle.
Chief Glenn Williams accepted on behalf of the KVFD. The proclamation recognizes the fire department’s founding during the 1880s, and that the department is expected to handle more than 1,000 calls in 2009.
“From house fires, to car wrecks, to cardiac arrests, the brave men and women of the Kyle VFD always answer the call for help,” said Gonzalez. “Kyle and Hays County is truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and professional group serving our community.”
The Kyle VFD has more than 70 members, most of whom are volunteers serving as firefighters and first responders.
