Kyle police seek answers on student who died on interstate

Kyle police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man believed to be in a taxi cab when Gheng Weng, a University of Texas student, either fell or jumped out of the cab onto Interstate 35.

The man in question is believed to be Hispanic, around 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a light build. The Hispanic man and Cheng are believed to have entered the taxi in the vicinity of the 1300 block of Lavaca in Austin at approximately 3 am on the morning of Saturday, February 14th.

The Hispanic man was last seen leaving the cab in San Marcos at approximately 4 a.m. that morning.

Kyle police, with the assistance of the Austin Police Department, have released the attached composite drawing of the man in question. Anyone with any information regarding this case should contact Kyle Police Detective Jacob Luria at 512-268-0859.
