University bicycle thefts on the rise

University Police Department (UPD) officers at Texas State are asking students, faculty, staff and residents to remain vigilant against the possibility of bicycle theft.

UPD has seen an increase in bicycle thefts during the past two months, many of which were secured with cable style locks.

According to UPD, these locks offer very little security. UPD recommend the use high-quality U-style locks in conjunction with cable locks.

Anyone witnessing suspicious activity should immediately contact UPD at (512) 245-2805. Bicycles can also be registered by using UPD’s  online form.
