Student Heath Center keeps accreditation with flying colors

STAFF REPORT

Texas State’s Student Health Center (SHC) has once again received top marks from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

The SRC received a perfect score on a survey with all reviewed standards being found in “substantial compliance.” The SRC has maintained its accreditation since 2003, and will continue to enjoy that status for the next three years.

“Accreditation underscores our long-standing commitment to providing the highest quality healthcare to the student and campus community,” said SHC Director Dr. Emilio Carranco. “We have an exceptional staff of professionals that work hard every day to meet the needs of patients and to support their academic success.”

More than 3,800 ambulatory health care organizations carry this accreditation, and the SRC is one of only seven universities in the state to be so recognized. The SRC saw more than 53,000 patients last year and provides primary care, women’s care and mental health services, along with laboratory services and an on-site pharmacy.
