A $6,853 donation from the Tanger Outlets will help treat women at Central Texas Medical Center for complications of the lymphatic system following surgery to treat breast cancer.
Funded through the outlet’s Pink Card program, the gift is part of the Stanley K. Tanger Breast Cancer’s 15th year of funding breast cancer awareness and treatment nationwide. The program allows shoppers to buy discount cards for $1, proceeds of which are dedicated to the breast cancer fund.
“We are hopeful that our donation will make a big difference to those in our community that are faced with battling breast cancer,” said Michelle Carswell, the Tanger Outlets San Marcos general manager. “Tanger, along with our retail partners remain committed to our ultimate goal of helping to find a prevention and cure for breast cancer.”
The hospital will use Tanger’s donation to subsidize lyphedema therapy to women recovering from breast cancer surgery, caused when lymph vessels or nodes are impaired, damaged or removed as part of treatment.
