City proclaims Spay Day USA, honors shelter volunteers

STAFF REPORT

San Marcos continued to dabble in pet policy as Mayor Susan Narvaiz proclaimed Feb. 24 as “Spay Day USA.” The proclamation encourages pet owners to spay or neuter their pets to prevent unwanted strays.

Pet Prevent a Litter of Central Texas (PALS), along with San Marcos Mutt Strutt and San Marcos Animal Services, sponsored 80 spay or neuter surgeries in conjunction with Spay Day. However, due to the high response all available spots have been filled. Vouchers will still be provided by PALS that can be used at local veterinarians or Emancipet. Call (512) 754-PALS to request one.

In other pet related proclamations, Narvaiz presented a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the city to Berry Gloor and Andra Moore of “Pets and Moore,” for their volunteer grooming services at the San Marcos Animal Shelter.

  1. Lisa Marie Coppoletta voleenteered to the animal shelter her time and talent by filming on a regular basis the pets up for adoption and distributing the footage through multiple media outs.
Asst. City Manager Ms. Millecam, without any explaination refused the service that would surly help reducing the inhumane number of pets destryed. MS. Millecam, your decisin makes no sense at all, especially to those poor pets awaitng the inevitable.

    Disillusioned,
    Daniel Scales
