A San Marcos native and Texas State University alumni has been named chief executive officer of Thermon Manufacturing Co., one of the city’s largest employers and a cornerstone of its industrial sector.
Rodney Bingham, a longtime Thermon executive, assumed control of the privately traded company Dec. 31 from Mark Burdick, whose father Dick Burdick started the company in 1954 in Houston. It later relocated its central offices to San Marcos.
Audax Group, a Boston-based private equity fund, acquired Thermon Industries Inc in September 2007 in a leveraged buyout.
With operations in 13 countries on four continents — North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia — Thermon manufactures temperature-regulating compounds used in the petrochemical, oil and gas, engineering, and power industries. It has 660 employees.
Bingham graduated San Marcos High School in 1969. He and his wife Susan have two grown sons, Wes and Jeremy. They most recently lived in Sugarland.
