The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has recognized Bowie Elementary School as one of 312 Distinguished Performance Schools across the state.
The award, administered by the No Child Left Behind Coordination Division, is given for outstanding academic performance for schools with 40 percent or more low income students in 2008-09. It is also measured by past performance, one of the requirements being that the school earned exemplary status in 2008 and received either exemplary or recognized status by the TEA in 2006 and 2007.
The Region XIII Education Service Center in Austin will present the award this spring. San Marcos CISD officials couldn’t be more pleased.
“We are proud that Bowie Elementary is receiving another well-deserved recognition for its excellence,” said San Marcos CISD Superintendent Patty Schafer. “The strong leaders and dedicated staff continually work to meet the educational needs of Bowie students and succeed to an ‘exemplary’ level.”
