Alkek Library experiments with longer hours

Texas State students are in on an experiment, which, if successful, will result in extended hours for the Alkek Library.

The Alkek Library is studying the feasibility of extending library hours by conducting a six-week pilot. From Feb. 1 through March 11, the library will be open 24 hours per day Sunday through Wednesday, providing access to study areas on floors 1-4.

Different services will be available on different floors of the library during the extended hours. The student lounge and vending machines will be available on the first floor. The laptop and book checkout, along with computers and printers (with limited assistance) will be available on the second floor. Microfilm and periodical services with limited assistance will be available on the third floor, whole the computer lab and reserve services will be open on the fourth floor.

Floors five through seven will not be available from 1-7:30 a.m. A security guard will be on duty during the overnight hours.
