San Antonio riders coming to square

Your usual Monday morning routine on the downtown square in San Marcos will have to wait a bit this time.

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo trail ride will make its annual visit to downtown San Marcos on Monday, arriving between 11 a.m. and noon. The city is planning lane closures on San Antonio and LBJ Streets on the square.

The Downtown Association and Main Street Program will provide lunch to the riders at downtown cafes. After lunch, Jon Agee’s Almost World Famous peach cobbler will be cooked on the Courthouse Square in Dutch ovens.

The inside lane of LBJ Drive and the east bound lane of San Antonio around the square will  close for safety from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Parking spaces on the Courthouse side of the San Antonio Street and LBJ Drive will be blocked off from 7 a.m. until the trail riders leave. This will allow an area for the horses and rigs to be parked safety.

Downtown residents are asked not to leave any cars parked overnight on the Courthouse side of LBJ Drive and San Antonio Street.
