Sheriff’s office investigating theft from Habitat for Humanity job site


Sheriff’s Office investigators are trying to determine who broke into a Wimberley Habitat for Humanity home under construction and stole a variety of construction tools.

On Tuesday morning, deputies responded to a phone call to the job site at 6 Lomas Verde Trail in Wimberley and found the house and two construction trailers had been burglarized, said Lt. Leroy Opiela, the sheriff’s office spokesperson. The suspect or suspects took an air compressor, nail guns, saws and drills and dealing a major blow to the nonprofit group that builds homes for low-income residents.
