Hays CISD to name superintendent finalist

The Hays CISD will name its lone finalist to become the school district’s new superintendent at Monday night’s trustees meeting.

The new superintendent will replace Kirk London, who took control right after a contentious school bond issue failed in 2003. London announced his retirement last spring, though he made it effective at the end of this school year so the Hays CISD trustees could find his replacement.

Beyond the naming of a new superintendent, the board faces a pretty light agenda. The only other item of note is the possible naming of a principal for Red Simon Middle School, which will open on the east side of Kyle in the fall.

This month’s trustees meeting will take place at Lehman High School, continuing a practice that began last year. The board meets for the first half of the year at Lehman High School, then for the second half of the year at Hays High School.
