Pedernales Electric has donated for public use a small tract in downtown Wimberley where the utility cooperative at one time planned construction of a transmission tower.
The city of Wimberley will instead landscape the 0.158-acre tract under conditions of the transfer. The transaction was approved Oct. 10 but had to wait for release of a lien because the cooperative’s property is used as collateral to secure bond debt.
“I am pleased that PEC could work in a positive way with the good people of Wimberley,” PEC General Manager Juan Garza said in a written statement. PEC bought the property in 1995.
